Strawberries and More

Along with our veggie garden, we have a strawberry plant.  Ella loves watering the plant and picking the strawberries.  I love having fun, real-world learning experiences right at home.

Isn't this a pretty plant???

She loves picking and eating the berries.  I can't wait until I can make something with the berries.

Blueberry-Banana Bread

This is another quick, easy bread that I got off of Feather in our Nest.  Mark and Ella loved it, and the recipe made two loaves.  We ate one and froze the other for another day.

Blueberry Banana Bread

2 ripe bananas
1 vanilla cake mix
1 box banana pudding (3.4 oz.)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
4 eggs
fresh blueberries (I used about 2/3 cup)

Mash bananas in a mixing bowl. Add all other ingredients and stir. Pour batter into two greased loaf pans (or 5 mini loaf pans) and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.

People say, "Boys will be boys."

Yep, that there is a chipped tooth.  Liam and Ella were playing and running down the hall and she had a hold of the back of his shirt.  When she let go he flew forward... on his tooth, apparently.

Poor little Buddy Boy.

The Newest Member- Hudley

A family here in town was giving away free golden retriever pups.  I had always told Mark that they were the only breed of dog that I would want.  Once we went and saw the little fella, there wasn't any way we could leave him behind.  He's a good pup, but it's taken me some getting used to him jumping up on me and the kids.

He is a pretty big pup and eats a lot of food!!!  He's a sweetie and great addition to the family.

Pillow Case

I really wish that I could have spring/summer decor and fall/winter decor, but I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.  I have been searching far and wide to find new pillows for my livingroom.  Honestly, I've been looking for about a year.  I just could never find anything I really loved.  Then, I discovered Etsy (I know... I'm a little behind).  I browsed through tons of pillow cases and found these.  I really think they brighten up the place.

Aren't they lovely???  I have another small floral pillow case that I need to get a form for, but for now this will have to do.

They were so much cheaper this way and I love them more than any other pillow selection I have found.

Go Etsy shopping people!!!  Now, if only I could figure out Pinterest.

Thumb Suckin' Cousins

Inquiring minds want to know which one is older.
Answer: Claire, by a year!!
I know... Liam is a BIG boy.  Claire is also a tiny little lady.

Forget the small talk, let's get down to business.  Thumb suckin' 101:

Look at mommy intently with puppy-dog eyes.
Place your thumb in your mouth.
And, suck away!

Yep, I think they have it down.

Cute cousins :)

Freedom

So many times it's easy to forget what sacrifices have been made.  As far as having freedom from other's control, so many have fought and lost a lot to ensure freedom for each of us.  When I think back to the Revolutionary War, I can't help but imagine how scary and unsure those men and women were when they had to fight the great "Giant" across the sea.  They were outnumbered, out-trained, and at a great disadvantage.  I believe that not one of those men that fought the British had a lack of faith in God.  How could they???  If there were no God, then I don't think there would have been any way for the Americans to win the war.  But, nothing is impossible with God!

As I think about our earthly freedom, it leads me to think about our spiritual freedom.  Our forefathers gave a great deal to give us freedom, but Jesus paid a price that none can fathom.  He gave his life for ALL people.  Nothing is more precious than the freedom found in Jesus.

Freedom is precious, but we should remember the true cost of that freedom.
