Home | New House

We have a lot going on, but I have been asked about our "new" home and thought I would drop by for an update.  We are moved in and it feels really good to have the busyness behind us.  We still have several things do to in the house to make it feel more my style, but just getting our stuff in place has helped a lot.

Those of you who have been with me for the past 5 years that I have been blogging have seen my style take a huge turn from warm, southwestern, and earth tones to a more cool, airy, simple aesthetic. This house has a bright (read yellow and blue) palette, and while I enjoy those colors in other homes, it is not a palette that I want to live in, day in and day out.  It's just like the "cabin" trend.  I love visiting cabins and the warmth that comes with the decor is lovely.  I just don't want that in my own home.

Since we are painting the main level (it was so, so dirty and I scrubbed to no avail.  it needs a coat of paint to clean the place up!) I decided to go ahead and put some nails to the walls and see where I liked things.  So, if you see decor off center, that is why.  I am just trying things out, so let me know what you like and what you would change!!!

IF you follow me on Instagram, then you've seen some of these already. Okay, here we go!

I will do a "before & after" post as we make progress through the house.  It is amazing how different decor alone can really change the look and feel of a home.  If you have any questions, leave a comment and I will try to reply sometime this year. lol :)

Camping | Family Time

Well, here we are.  All moved in to our new home, minus two boxes that haven't found a landing spot in the "new" house yet.  We feel like college students cramming for finals at the last minute.  Lots of early mornings and late, late nights working to get things put away and the house cleaned up.  I will post more about our new digs later, but for now, I wanted to share our camping trip to the local lake.  Can that be considered a "trip" since it's in the same town we moved to?

We decided, somewhat last minute, to pack the camper and head for the lake.  We needed to step outside the house projects and pour into our little people.  We played at the park multiple times, rode our bikes to the lakeside, and found some perfect hiking/biking trails.  The kids (parents too) were stoked to find a place that we can see ourselves enjoying on a regular basis. The little girls sat in the bike trailer and sucked their fingers while the big kids sped away leaving Mark and myself yelling, "slow down," over and over.

We came home the next day and took long naps (Mark worked on the house- no nap), ate steak, and hit the bed early.
