I am trying to be as thrifty as possible when decorating my baby Guinnyth’s nursery. It has been so much fun and feels so good to not spend oodles of money to create a nice, serene room for my little one.
One of the things I wanted to make for her wall is this giraffe canvas.
I found it on Pinterest and thought it was cute and different. I then found it on Etsy selling for $160.00!
No, thank you! That didn’t exactly fit into my “thrifty nursery” definition, so I decided to make one myself. And, just so we’re clear… by “making it myself,” I really mean my mom made it while I supervised.
We worked on this just a few days before Guinnyth came home, so I didn’t have enough brain endurance to do this myself. Sad, I know… but, I’m working on recovering those lost brain cells.
I bought the canvas for cheap and found material that matched the color scheme of the room as set by the nursery mobile I made for her.
It hangs right over the changing table. Ella and I have named each giraffe after someone in our family. She is really into teaching Guinnyth all about “who” each giraffe is.
I can’t help but think it turned out great! It is one of my favorite pieces in the room and is the focal point right when you walk in the door. I also think I want to do the curtains in the floral fabric on the right.
What do you think? Is the fabric too mature for a nursery? Or, do you think it would be cute?
