The transition from summer to fall is one that I soak up every year. Earth-toned blankets get layered throughout the house for easy access as we move from hot, sultry summer to cool, brisk autumn. I also tend to throw snuggly pillows on furniture to make the corners of our home even more inviting. Autumn is the beginning of shorter days and longer nights for us, so making it as snuggly as possible is a must.
As per usual, summer blooms get replaced with beeswax candles. October is about the time that I start making my beeswax jars and roll my tapers. Having a soft, buttery glow in the home when it is dark outside is one of the sweet spots of autumn.
Ah… yet another note in the autumn handbook is lots of baking and tea time. Cookies and sweet breads usually fill the menu and I look forward to feasting after fasting from them all summer. It is too hot here in the summer to enjoy hot banana bread with melting butter atop. Autumn, on the other hand, is the perfect time to splurge on such things.
And, lastly, on my autumn home round up is books. I don’t read a ton of books for pleasure in the summer months because we are always outside and on the go. Autumn is the perfect time to make a list and start plugging away at a few good books.
I hope you enjoyed this list of ways to introduce your home to Autumn. You can always add in a few pumpkins and mums for good measure.
