When we moved into our current home, we inherited a yard that had been completely killed by roundup (they thought it was fertilizer) and landscaping that looked like it hadn’t been tended to in years. Slowly, we have managed to bring the yard back to life and the landscaping has taken a step in the right direction with regular pruning and weeding.
We knew that the landscaping needed some attention, but we wanted to get the exterior of the actual house “buttoned up,” as my husband likes to say, before we spent time and money on the landscaping. Since the exterior got attention last spring, this spring is for the landscaping. I have been compiling lots of inspiration photos so I know what direction I want to take it in, because this isn’t something we want to have to redo any time soon. Our hope is to clean up the space, choose hardy plants that are also beautiful, and enjoy it for years to come.
I like to call my garden taste “English Garden.” I love the sleek lines of boxwood hedges paired with the wildness of English roses. We will be planting some of both and I am very excited to see how it turns out as it matures. I will be sharing the process as we tackle it. For now, I hope you enjoyed the beautiful gardens I shared. I’d love to know what your garden style is. Leave it in the comments!
