Liz Quick
Nuts and chocolate go together so well and when it’s Christmastime, it seems like they go together even more so. I’m sharing how to make chocolate covered pecans because everyone needs a simple treat in their back pocket to have sitting in a pretty dish during the holidays.

Double boiler
cookie baking sheet
- 16 ounces pecan halves
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1-2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
Fill a small saucepan with 2-3 inches of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Place a double boiler or heat-friendly bowl on top of the saucepan.
Add the chocolate and oil to the saucepan and stir until melted.
Remove from heat and dip each pecan in the melted chocolate.
Place chocolate dipped pecans on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle chocolate covered with sea salt as desired.
Allow to cool for 1 hour and transfer to a container and into the fridge so the chocolate stays firm.
- Freeze for later- You can put the cured chocolate covered pecans in a ziplock bag and freeze them for later
- Add to a box of cookies- If you take cookies to neighbors during the holidays, these are a great filler for the boxes
- Melt chocolate slowly- If you melt the chocolate too quickly or on a high heat, it can cause discoloration of the final chocolate covered pecans, so heat the chocolate low and slow
