Equipment

  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Felt (two colors)
  • Ribbon
  • Thread and needle

Materials

  • 2 pieces white felt
  • 1 piece red felt
  • 1 spool thread in accent color
  • 1 container craft glue
  • 1 spool ribbon

Instructions

  • Trace your mitten shapes on white felt with a sharp pencil or fabric pencil.
  • Layer your two large pieces of felt (that are the same color) on top of one another so you can cut both the top mitten form and bottom mitten form out at the same time. Cut out mittens.
  • You will need to cut strips of your accent felt for the cuff of the mitten ornament. I chose a sparkly red felt for the cuff. The pieces I cut were 2 1/4 inches long by 1 1/4 inches wide.
  • Cut pieces of ribbon for your ornaments.
The red ribbon was cut to 7 1/2 inches.
  • Use your craft glue to glue the ends of the ribbon to the inside of one of the white pieces of felt.
  • Place the second white felt mitten on top and press down to seal the glue and secure the ribbon in between the two white mitten pieces.
  • Put a layer of craft glue on the rectangular accent felt color you cut out.
  • Lay your mitten half way up the rectangle and press the mitten down onto the glue.
  • Fold the accent color around the cuff of the felt mittens and press to make the craft glue adhere to the felt.
  • With an accent thread and needle, stitch around the outside of your project.
