Smothered in a sweet creamy dressing that can’t be beat, Amish Broccoli Salad is created with broccoli, cauliflower, bacon, onion, and cheese. It is the perfect side dish to complement a barbeque, family picnic, bridal shower, or church potluck.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 head broccoli, chopped
  • 1 head cauliflower, chopped
  • ¼ cup red onion, diced
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ pound bacon, chopped and cooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower seeds, optional

Instructions
 

  • In a cast iron skillet on medium-high heat, sauté the chopped bacon until crispy.
  • In a large bowl, mix the mayonnaise, greek yogurt, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the broccoli, cauliflower, red onion, sunflower seeds, shredded cheese, and bacon to the salad dressing mixture.
  • Chill for 1 hour and serve.

Notes

Add-Ins for Amish Broccoli Salad

  • Grapes– Red or green grapes would add a delicious sweet and crunchy explosion of flavor to the salad.
  • Raisins– If you like raisins, they would add a sweet chewy flavor and texture. Golden raisins could also be used to add flavor and color.
  • Dried Cranberries– Like raisins, many people enjoy this ingredient in salad dishes. Unsweetened cranberries give some chew to this crispy salad.
