- ¼ cup granulated sugar
Cinnamon Apple Pie filling
- 4 red or green apples, diced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Croffles
Roll up the puff pastry starting at the wide end of the triangle and roll it to the short end. Roll your puff pastry croissants in granulated sugar.
Heat your waffle iron until hot.
Spray your waffle Iron with non-stick spray.
Cook 1 to 2 croissants at a time, depending upon the size of your waffle Iron.
Cinnamon Apple Filling
Slice and cube your apples.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and add the cinnamon. Whisk that together.
Add in the apples, sugar, and 3 tablespoons water and stir to coat the apples. Let them cook for 5 minutes with the lid on so the apples begin to soften.
While they cook, make your thickening sauce. In a small bowl, mix the 2 tablespoons water and cornstarch together. Whisk it to dissolve the cornstarch in the water.
Add the cornstarch mixture to the apple pie filling and stir well.
Allow the mixture to bubble and thicken.
Once thick, remove it from the heat. Pour a generous amount over each croffle.
- Roll your unbaked croffles in sugar to get a caramelized glaze on the outside when you press them.
- Use cooking spray on your waffle iron prior to pressing each croffle so they don’t stick.
- Use a for to gently release the croffle from the waffle iron if it sticks.
