Equipment

  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 9-inch pie plate

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated, white sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • teaspoons vanilla
  • ¾ cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 9-inch refrigerated pie crust

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F.
  • In a large bowl of your stand mixer with the whisk attachment, beat the eggs on high speed until foamy.
  • Beat in the flour, white sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
  • Next, add in the butter and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  • Stir in the chocolate and nuts.
  • Pour the batter into a pie shell.
  • Bake for 1 hour or until a knife inserted half way through (the middle of the pie) comes out clean.
  • Cool for 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

It’s very likely that the chocolate chips will sink down in the batter, creating a chocolate layer near the bottom.
If your pie comes out of the oven with a chocolate layer and you’d rather it not be there, use about a quarter cup fewer chocolate chips.
