  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ tablespoon Worchestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour

Instructions

Sandwiches

  • Butter the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Slice the hawaiian rolls horizontally and place the bottom in the baking dish.
  • Layer the cheese and the beef.
  • In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter and sauté the onion until golden and caramelized.
  • Add the top of the rolls and brush the tops with melted butter. Sprinkle onion flakes on top.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese in melted.

Au Jus

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter and whisk in the flour, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking. Add the Worchestershire sauce and let the au jus simmer until it thickens just a tad.
  • Serve in a small dipping bowl with the sandwiches.

Notes

  • Toast the buns: Toasting the buns adds an extra layer of flavor and texture. Brush the buns with melted butter and toast them in the oven or on a griddle.
