How to Make Baked Apples in 3 Easy Steps

Baked cinnamon apples are a delicious and healthy dessert that you can easily make at home. Here’s how to make them in just three easy steps:

  1. Slice your apples: Start by slicing your apples into thin pieces. You can use any type of apple you like, but some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady. Make sure to remove the core and seeds before slicing.
  2. Add ingredients to a bowl: In a large mixing bowl, combine your sliced apples with some cinnamon, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together until the apples are evenly coated.
  3. Bake cinnamon apples: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer your apple mixture to a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and lightly browned on top.

That’s it! Your baked cinnamon apples are now ready to enjoy. You can serve them warm or cold, and they’re perfect on their own or topped with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Here are some additional tips to help you make the perfect baked apples:

  • If you want to make a larger batch, simply double or triple the recipe as needed.
  • You can also add other spices to your apple mixture, such as nutmeg or ginger, to give it some extra flavor.
  • For a healthier version, you can skip the brown sugar and use honey or maple syrup instead.
  • If you’re short on time, you can microwave your apple mixture for 5-7 minutes instead of baking it in the oven.
  • Leftover baked apples can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Get creative with your add-ins and experiment with different flavors and textures.

You can also try adding a drizzle of caramel sauce or a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.

Storing and Reheating

When it comes to baked cinnamon apples, you may find yourself with leftovers that you want to store and reheat later.

Here are some tips to help you keep your baked apples fresh and delicious.

Airtight Container

To store your baked cinnamon apples, you should use an airtight container.

This will help keep the apples fresh and prevent them from drying out. You can use a plastic container with a tight-fitting lid or a glass container with a sealable lid.

Make sure the container is clean and dry before you put the apples in it.

If you have a large batch of baked apples, you can store them in a large container or divide them into smaller portions.

Label the container with the date so you can keep track of how long the apples have been in the fridge.

Leftover Baked Apples

If you have leftover baked apples, you can reheat them in the oven or the microwave.

To reheat in the oven, preheat your oven to 350°F. Place the apples in an oven-safe dish and cover with foil. Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.

To reheat in the microwave, place the apples in a microwave-safe dish and cover with a lid or plastic wrap.

Microwave on high for 1-2 minutes, or until heated through. Be sure to stir the apples halfway through the cooking time to ensure they heat evenly.

When reheating baked apples, you can add a little bit of water or apple juice to the dish to help keep the apples moist.

You can also sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon or sugar on top for extra flavor.

What to Serve with Baked Apples

Baked cinnamon apples are a delicious and comforting dessert that can be enjoyed on their own or paired with other foods. If you’re wondering what to serve with baked apples, here are a few ideas to consider:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream- A classic pairing for baked apples is a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cool creaminess of the ice cream complements the warm spiciness of the apples, creating a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
  • Whipped Cream- If you prefer a lighter option than ice cream, you can serve your baked apples with a dollop of whipped cream. This will add a touch of sweetness and creaminess to the dish, making it even more indulgent.
  • Caramel Sauce- For an extra decadent treat, drizzle some caramel sauce over your baked apples. The rich, buttery flavor of the caramel will complement the sweetness of the apples and the spiciness of the cinnamon, creating a truly irresistible dessert.
  • Chopped Nuts- If you want to add some crunch to your baked apples, sprinkle some chopped nuts on top. Walnuts, pecans, and almonds are all great options that will add a nutty flavor and texture to the dish.

Tips and Tricks for Best Results

Baked cinnamon apples are a delicious and healthy treat that can be enjoyed any time of the day. Here are some tips to ensure that you get the best results every time you make them.

  • Use the perfect apples: The best way to ensure that your baked cinnamon apples turn out perfectly is to use the right type of apples. Look for apples that are firm and slightly tart, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn. These apples will hold their shape and won’t turn mushy when baked.
  • Core and slice your apples evenly: For the best results, it’s important to core and slice your apples evenly. Use an apple corer or a sharp knife to remove the core, then slice the apples into even pieces. This will ensure that the apples cook evenly and your dish looks beautiful.
  • Add the right amount of cinnamon: Cinnamon is the star of this dish, so it’s important to use the right amount. Too little and your apples will be bland, too much and they’ll be overpowering. A good rule of thumb is to use 1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon per 4 cups of sliced apples.
  • Use the right baking dish: The best way to bake your cinnamon apples is in a glass or ceramic baking dish. These materials distribute heat evenly and won’t react with the acidic apples. Avoid using metal or non-stick pans, as they can cause the apples to turn brown or stick to the pan.
  • Add a touch of sweetness: While baked cinnamon apples are naturally sweet, a touch of sugar or honey can take them to the next level. Add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar or honey to the apples before baking, or sprinkle a little on top before serving.
  • Experiment with your favorite toppings: Baked cinnamon apples are delicious on their own, but they’re even better with a little extra flavor. Try topping them with a dollop of whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or a sprinkle of chopped nuts. The possibilities are endless!
